Those first couple of days that you will not be in class, you will spend meeting new people, getting to know the campus, and pretty much taking part in AWESOME activities that mostly O-Staff has prepared for you. Because we wouldn't want you to have one minute of down time, we have planned a couple of events for you to attend.

1st Event:

August 24 at 9PM, we will host a movie in the Amphitheater, to be announced later on. So wait for that.

2nd Event:

August 25 at 6PM, FUSAB will bring to you the awesome ("Status = Awesome = Jedi saber battle between estranged family members") alternative/rock/pop band, Sleeperstar in the Amphitheater. So you wouldn't want to miss out on that.

...and 3rd FUSAB Event (but you bet, for the life of FUSAB, not the last one):

You shall dance and jump and shout, but mostly dance in our annual "Welcome-to-FU-,-Freshies!-Foam-Party!"

This will take place August 27, at 8PM out on e-field. So SoHo residents, you have no good reason to not be there... and neither do Lakesiders for that matter. "I have homework" will not be an excuse 'cause guess what. You won't...

FUSAB will be raffling off tickets to the 2008 Tour of Gymnastic Superstars coming to the Bi-Lo Center on Saturday, October 18th at 5 pm. The raffle will be at 5:30pm in the P-Den on Wednesday, October 15th.

Now for the twist – with diva personalities comes true rock-star drama. All HAVOC competitions will be for IMMUNITY… contestants will be eliminated from HAVOC by voting each other off the tour bus. Celebrity status lends itself to the limelight – live video feed will stream from the HAVOC tour bus 24 hrs a day. Challenges, “testimonials,” & eliminations (as well as the live bus feed) will be made available for student viewing on FU2 & online. True story: the music industry can be cutthroat… but if you can outlast, FUSAB is offering a pretty sweet paycheck. $1,000.00. Up for a challenge? Believe me, you’re going to want to hop on this tour bus - HAVOC ’08 will take you for a wild ride.

Virginia Tech Game

FUSAB is sponsoring 2 buses to the Virginia Tech game on Saturday, September 6th. 101 seats are available on a first come/first served basis. The bus ride is free, but you must have a Virginia Tech ticket to get on the bus. Tickets to the game are $44.

To purchase your Virginia Tech ticket and reserve your seat on the FUSAB Bus, call the Timmons Arena box office at 864-294-3099. If you have already purchased your ticket, you still need to call the box office to reserve your place on the FUSAB Bus.

Students, please make sure you plan to ride the bus if you reserve a space. Students who reserve a space and then do not ride the bus will be charged $40.

Tears of Africa TOMS Shoe Event

Tears of Africa and FUSAB are joining together to host a shoe event.

For one week, TOMS shoes will be sold in the UC for $20. For each pair purchased, a pair will be given to a shoeless African child. Tears of Africa will also be accepting shoe donations throughout the week that will be sent to shoeless children in both South America and Africa.

There will also be a shoe fast through which Furman students can help raise awareness for the issue by not wearing their shoes on campus.

Shoes can be purchased and donated in the UC May 12-21.

The Shoe Fast will take place May 19-21.

TAG with RLC

RLC and FUSAB will be hosting the second annual game of TAG beginning on May 12.

Sign-Ups will be in the UC beginning on May 6th from 11-2.

How to play TAG

Everyone will receive a bracelet in their mailbox on Monday the 12^th. On the inside of this bracelet will be a person’s name. This person is your target.

Starting Monday at midnight, you can begin looking for your target. The point of the game is to find the target (person’s name on the inside of your bracelet), tag them, and then take their bracelet. Once you take their bracelet, you now begin hunting for a new target-the person on the inside of the bracelet of the person you just tagged. This gets complicated because while you are looking for your target, they are also looking for someone, so your target is harder to find.

The game ends Friday the 16^th at midnight.

The person with the most bracelets at the end wins.

TAG Rules

1.) You will not be allowed to “Tag” anyone in an academic building between the hours of 8-5 because we do not want class to be interrupted. You are allowed to tag them as they are LEAVING an academic building, but not inside.

2.) You MUST be wearing/ have on your person, your latest TAG bracelet at all times.

3.) Housing staff meetings are not to be interrupted at any time to Tag someone.

4.) In order to participate in Tag you must LIVE ON CAMPUS.

5.) All residence rules MUST be followed (ie: do not break into someone else's
room). If residence hall rules are not followed, students will be subject to judicial punishment.

Reckless Tickets

Hollywild Tickets

FUSAB is offering tickets for a wild safari ride--in Greer, South Carolina. That's right, a legitimate safari in Greer. A ticket will get you into Hollywild Animal Park, a barrel of bagels to feed the animals, and a sweet safari ride through the park.

Make Your Own Film Fest

We've been working long and hard with the cool kids from Independent Film Society to make a student run film fest happen, and now it is time for you to get to work. Pull out your video camera and get to filming! First, stop by the UC March 10th-14th between 11 AM and 2 PM and sign-up. Films are due March 25th and there will be a screening on March 27th, at 7 PM, in Burgiss.

What about prizes for the winner? You better believe there will be prizes. A faculty panel will be viewing and judging the films to determine the winner and runners-up.
